Travelling to a Charter Stone requires a Charter Stone. Charisma affects how far you can travel. Before you can travel to a CS you have to activate it via right click -> "visit". Access to a CS is exclusive to characters. So to travel with all 5 you have to make the trip and activate the CS with each character first. Of course you only need one character able to travel between Charter Stones to take all of your stuff but if you want to take the rest you would have to make the journey for each one (2 at a time on a boat?).

You can travel via CS while carrying an object and/or a leashed animal. You can in fact leash several animals at once and travel with them all, don't know if there is a maximum amount but I believe 6 is not a problem.

Building a CS requires 4x Rock Crystal, found on a localised resource inside caves called Rock Crystals. This is one of the more coveted/valuable/traded localised resources for this very reason.

I'd recommend you use the CS of the village/realm you're joining, if you trust them. You could also avoid having to build a CS all together if you use a friendly neighbours one. If you're near the Sevilla Community Market you could use theirs which is always open to the public, but this of course has its risks and also if you drop or place anything on the Sevilla claim you will need one of their members to be online and get it for you. You can find their thread stickied in the "Apples for Oranges" forum.

Hope this helps.

Anyone has any idea how fishing gear quality actually affects fishing? Does it softcap, speed up fishing, anything at all? I'm talking about bushcraft pole

You're going to need very high charisma on every character who travels by charter stone, since the amount required scales by distance. Currently I have 265 charisma on one character and it is not enough to teleport from near the map edge to the center.

I'd suggest picking two main characters to keep and row/walk to the new location. Get the realm owner to agree to provide you with starter tools/seeds/breeding animals in exchange for you moving to live there. Let your other characters wrestle with bears or something, then inherit on new characters in your new location.

Charter stone, as others alread noted, need to be visited prior to porting to it. Also it requires charisma to use, the more the longer the journey.

You might be better off, especially for crossing the world, with building a Boat, a Wagon (which can seat 4 persons) and two complete rafts (4 pieces), a pile of rope and enough Large Chests (or Wheelbarrows, depending on stockpile being bigger than LC or not) for the stuff you want to take with you.

The process then would then be twofold.

Find a good path:
Use one character, load the two parts of one raft into the boat, mount a horse, lift the boat and go on your way toward your new location. With this you'll scout your way you'll take later. When needing to cross water: drop the boat in the water, teather the horse, unload and assemble the raft, ferry the horse over and leash it (so it'll follow you), ferry back, disassemble raft and load it into the boat, cross water, leave boat, mount horse, lift boat - rinse, repeat.
After having found the path build a HF a the new place.

Make the move:
Login to the other characters and load up the wagon (including the other two raft pieces) with what you want to take, seat all except one in the wagon and log them off. With the last character leash the other horse to the wagon, leash all animals you want to take with you, mount and off you go. Crossing water will be similar to with the first character but you'll need more trips with the raft. You might also multi-client with a second character that has the animals leashed to keep them a bit more manageable. In case you can get animals of same (or better) quality at your new place: set yours free (on grassland) and spare yourself the hazzle of moving them.

When arrived login the other characters in the wagon outside of a claim, INSTANTLY build HFs for all of them (so you don't get disconnected and end up back at the start), then move into your new place.

Any maybe make some nice pictures and an interesting story for the forum afterwards (so they don't know where you move and come to get you). Enjoy the trip.

What is advantage of set free instead of just leave animal behind?

Thank You all for the information.

The distance I would travel (based on grids on the worldmap by Oditown) is 250ish squares
My Charisma is only like 25. I take it portalling is just out of the question ?

Also my main char has Attributes around 25 base and abilties between 10 and 35 base.

Honestly, would I be better off just making new characters and starting over ? Would raise faster now that I kinda know what I am doing.

Your new character will probably take longer to develop than the trip would take, but if you don't feel like walking for several days, you might as well do it. and building new character would be more entertaining (at least for me) than walking.

Trip could be fun though, I made one with a wagon a while back (crossing half the world) and it wasn't that bad (crossing water) after I got the hang of it and worked out a smooth procedure. Was actually fun and I would do it more often in case one could protect his belongings when offline (which was made impossible by the claim cooldown).
