It is more about how you do it than your stats.

I had less than you in all stats and plain clothes for armor when I did my first taming and now I have 3 horses, a sheep, and a Bull with another Mouflon and Auroch in the process.

Check this screenshot for how I do it....
Image

1. Move a rock or two to make a path into the trap area
2. Left click on a clover then, while its on your cursor, right click on an animal to hypnotize it
3. left click on a rope then, while its on your cursor, right click on the animal to leash it
4. put the rope in your inventory then walk to your trap area and walk the animal into it
5. left click the rope the animal is leashed to then, while its on your cursor, right click the hitching post
6. wait 12 to 26 hours for the animal to get in an angry pose
7. Set up your attack deck with punch as your only attack and all the rest as defense (one for each color)
8. click on your attack hotkey and click on the animal that is in an angry pose
9. click on the little sword icon on the top right of the screen to switch to peace mode (you will still be in combat but you wont kill the beast)
10. Get in your boat and move to about 3 tiles out of reach of the animal
11. click your punch hotkey and as soon as you hit it immediately click the water about 3-4 tiles away from the beast (90% of the time you will withdraw before it can hit you)
12. if you got hit, click on the appropriate defense until your bar is gone
13. repeat 11 and 12 until your combat UI disappears
14. Re - Leash the animal to the hitching post and wait another 12 to 26 hours for it to go into angry pose again then repeat the process until at the end a pink cloud will appear and the animal will turn into a tamed animal

Fixed. Screenshot and directions are under spoiler now

Nope, I toggled all the claim visuals (personal/village/realm) and nada. Maybe it's a bug?

Maybe claim was destroy after scent was left.

Nah, there wasn't any claim there beforehand.

Do realms show up with an obvious overlay? Because I usually have that on.

Maybe I was in a realm? Do realms show an obvious overlay on ground tiles? This was at 29, -104, if that helps identify the location. I didn't see any realm buff tho.

Realm claims doesn't allow scents like villages and personal claims do.

ohhhhh, you know what? That might be the case. This was, after all, after getting ganked by someone calling himself Yottskry. My body wasn't right by the reek, but it was close enough by that I'm sure my body got moved after. That might be it.

Thanks! Mystery (probably) solved.

Does a plowed tile switch back to dirt after time?

I have seen this happening 4 time already since when I moved in a new place (a week), it had never happened before. Is a new mechanic? Is related to something? Like trees near-by?

Growing trees nearby are most likely the explanation.

I have noticed that people have placed a claim so it covers a local resource, which seems greedy but is understandable.

I found a clay pit near me so I tried to place a claim over it but it said I cant claim over a natural wonder.

Can anyone help me with this list I am making so if I ever get access to the wiki, I can help update it....

Local Resource and if it can be "claimed"
Abyssal Chasm - ?
Ancient Windthrow - Yes
Clay Pit - No
Geyser - ?
Great Cave Organ - ?
Guano Pile - ?
Headwaters - Yes
Heart of the Woods - ?
Ice Spire - ?
Jotun Mussel - ?
Rock Crystal - ?
Salt Basin - ?

Any others I have missed ?

Also on the subject of Localized resources, What effects the "refill timer" ? I have inspected something to see will refill in 12 days then 3 days later check it again and expect to see 9 days but it says 6 days.

^^ None of them can now be claimed ... the claiming was at the start of the world, devs then decided to disallow it, rightly so, but claims already made still stood. :)
