In the quest system I just got create an artifact requirement. What qualifies as an artifact?

I think it's a gilded item?

It means you have to gild some clothing. I think it assumes that "gilded clothing" = artifact.

If I have a gate that opens toward my village, do visitors that own a copy of the key (slave key) but that are not my village members get the visitor debuff? (I think they should get it, according to wiki, but I am unsure of this particular case)

Yes, everyone gets the visitor debuff regardless. The only thing that can "overrun" the visitor debuff are permissions, so as long as those people doesn't have permissions (set by you or given to them by field cairns), they will be treated as visitors (AKA can't commit crimes)

Permission for unknow are from the white color, right? Only village members have a different colour...

Not really, no. It used to be like that in legacy but now it is changed, there is NO way to give permissions to unknown people by accident now - even if you give permissions in village or p-claim to white color, they will only work if that person is kinned (for p-claim) or part of the village.

So it actually means:
"White Village members" (for villages) or "White kinned people" (for p-claims)

To really give permissions to Unknown people, you need a Field Cairn. It can be built in the "Village Government" tab.
When you right click it, it will allow you to "draw" an area. And then set permissions to that area. If you set permissions for the white color, then THIS will make it work for Unkown players.
It is the only way to give village rights to unknown players in the game so far.

Otherwise, white permissions will only apply to village members that are part of the "White" village group.

Ok, thanks for the explanation! And I think that will work even with gates with no lock, right? So what's the point of making lock now? Just to avoid to see random people running in your village if they like to leave a scent trying to open the door in order to obtain nothing?

Well, it's important to have a lock because you don't anyone wandering around and checking your stuff, besides there's always a chance someone could put their own locks in your gate and lock you inside (lol) or maybe open the gate and agro you from outside, which then allows then to get inside and attack you (because combat will be initiated already)
