I've always been a nooby hermit/villager myself and I've traded pearls mostly in every single world. They are not so hard to come by.

These are all literally useless to me in the qualities I'd expect most newbies/hermits to be able to provide. I don't know about you guys, I couldn't be caught dead accepting newbie-tier foraged goods I can go out to my nodes for to make not-even-very-good curiosities (enthroned toads) out of, and the snails I'd only get a use out of because I find them silly and I love them.

Also, why on earth would I want a newbie's clovers/dandelions when I can use my poppy flowers for flower arrangements, if that was your suggestion in the first point given?

Additionally, if it can't be done on a barter stand I'm not interested tbh. Most of the time the language barrier is too annoying to get over when trading with the locals.

What's your village setup?

I never claimed these trades were a thing for high end factions.

The problem is the premise of this whole thread is a lie or an elaborate troll. I keep seeing the term "developed" village. Do I really need to fix that? We know what developed means. There are 2 games going on here where the "developed" people cant be bothered to play the actual game that the majority of the population is actually playing. We dont need a pve server, we need a "developed" player server and a game server.

I'm not sure I'd call it an elaborate troll unless this isn't the same sevenless I've known through the forums for all these years. I think it started out as a means to actually try to figure out what good things to focus on for new players to provide to more established players. What it has turned into, though... maybe that's the troll?

I might be quoting this, but I'm not aiming it at any one person. Let's not go here in HDI, please. Let's stick to the subject, and that is how to help new players learn to play and join the community. It might be an interesting discussion for C&I, though.

I should have said "seems like." Sevenless has helped me greatly personally with his guides and other posts. However, I dont think I took the thread here, there are a couple of posts about what hermits could offer, the rest of the thread are thinly veiled brags or sneers towards new or legit players. It doesnt seem welcoming or helpful to me.

I agree, but I'm not sure what to do, as I think in a lot of ways there is some valid input in it.

this thread is almost certainly not boasting or trolling. its a genuine phenomena. if all of your industries are caught up to the point where the literal only things you'd benefit taking from hermits are things that you can't easily barter (ie labor because you need to actually interact with the person personally to do that) or are like, local resources (innately problematic) or RMT and hat trade related (also problematic) then honestly what the hell do you barter with people for?

what if i want to sell my old b12 to someone but the only things they can offer me are so useless and null to me that i would be taking them to more or less sit on them or waste them on god knows what

i am surprised sev received the reaction he did, because im struggling with this problem too, so i guess im some tryhard well-off player.

Because foraging has been absolutely gutted with gardening and limited pools.
I don't have any hope of it becoming better either since even last world there was a lot of talk about making foraging useful again.
All we got since then was a few rare herbs people don't really need.
