If you are attacked and you think you will lose consciousness while in a boat try to do it in shallow water. Drowning is no fun. Lesson learned, thank you my assailants.

Short guide to the in-game map window secrets:

Default keybinds: CTRL+A to open Map window, ??? to toggle between compact and extended mode.
Personal rebind (I kind of recommend): ALT+A to open Map window, CTRL+ALT+A to toggle between compact and extended mode. Problem with it being on CTRL is that if you have the habit of opening/closing the map open and travel on boat or horse, you WILL have unintended dismounts due to missclicks.

(Current keybind is always shown on window button tooltip.)

As an example, I show you how to get your map to only show Thingwall markers.something I've previously asked. Turns out this has (presumably) been possible ever since the current Map window was added to the default client. Hidden/poorly documented feature: you can have a third option to having every marker or zero markers shown.

1) Open Map window
2) Toggle extended mode
3) Select "Natural" from the left drop-down menu.
4) Use "Hide Markers" (default keybind. Ctrl+M, not much need to change this I presume.)
5) Click the first Thingwall ICON you see on your list (the icon is separate clickable thing from the rest of the tab/nameplate.)
6) Toggle back to the compact mode.
7) CTRL+M will now toggle between "all" "nothing" custom" for what markers are shown.

Following this guide, the "custom" will only have Thingwalls on it. (Useful, for example, to quickly share a basic map with a single screenshot.) And you can add/edit what custom will show when its actively selected, using extended mode. Unfortunately, this is not saved between sessions so you need to set this up every time you relog.

I think tip #29 really undervalues the effectiveness of roasthoppers as an energy food. They are only 0.48% hunger with 700% energy. My favorite food for landscaping

This is probably little-known by now. But eating food below 8000% energy and outside of feasting, does not give FEP, Satiety or Hunger at all.
You can eat anything freely for Energy below that threshold.

once you have own mine - you can plant champignons there and grow em in huge amounts and make shrums on sticks or whatever it called in bulk. yes, they are only 500 energy but could be made in bulk easy and fast.

Tired of typing and finding out the 'Action Menu' was actually the active element? Feel like you intentionally use keyboard for the 'Action Menu'' so rarely that you'd wish it could be just disabled altogether?

It actually can be! And you don't even have to contend with binary "all or nothing" -type of scenario! Disable just the Rite & Magic -keyboard shortcut to eliminate the worry of accidentally spending all your hard-earned Experience Points, for an example!

Apparently not many people (in realm chat) know this, so I'll offer it here;

[CTRL+right click] allows you to memorise the owner of a private claim. If you memorise and name any P-claim you find then see that name pop up in realm chat, you can then 'forget' the memorised name to reveal the actual name of the owner.
By additionally leaving map markers on the memorised locations, you can find specific players hearth fires and personal claims without having to kin them.

This is very useful for social gameplay - if you get on well with a hearthling in realm chat, you can now find where they're based from and can pay them a visit in real time. Arms and armour optional.
