First number (0) is actual cost of the move. Second number (4) is a requirement how many IP you need to have to be able to execute the move. I.e. if you have 4 or more IP you can use Think to gain 2 more IP at no cost.

Maybe better definition for the second number is "how many extra IP you need to have". There are other moves, like cleave (4+2) - costs 4 IP but you need 6 or more to execute it.

Palisade Gates on a Village Claim...

I understand that gates can be built opening in (towards the inside of your base) and opening out (towards the outside of your base).
I understand that having gates on your village means people walking through them aquire the "Visitor" debuff.
I understand that there are two options of Keys, a Master Key and a Slave Key.

I sort of understand what people have called an airlock system. Build a gate - small enclosed area - then a second gate.

I built a village and a palisade wall surrounding it.
All gates are of the airlock build with all gates facing outward.

Ok now for my question.....

Right now every char that is a village member has a master key that unlocks all the gates. I was under the assumption that even if one of these chars died outside the walls that whomever stole the
key could not enter through the airlocks because of the debuff would not allow them to manipulate the 2nd gate. But then I read a thread where someone said that anyone that left their
base with a master key was a moron. As I do not want to be a Moron I would like to know how doing so would be so stupid and how to make my base better secured
(other than having only one char have a key and never leaves the base, only logs in to open gates for other chars).

You are correct that If someone dies they cannot get into your base even with a masterkey, but in the event of this occurance a person with the masterkey can change your outerlocks locking you into your base. Slave keys on the other hand let people leave the village but not re-enter without out using their hearthfire.

Well, to me "base" also implies you have HF there. Then the question is - why you want to walk back in and bother opening the gates when you can just teleport to HF (the only exemptions would be when you are riding a wagon or pulling a cart)?

My gates are already built with all doors facing outwards,
would I have to destroy and rebuild the gates to set them up to work with a slave key ?
And am I right in that slave key only opens a gate from the direction it opens from (ie from inside the base if facing outward)

Yes my HF is inside the base, but I am not the only member so just want to set it up as securely as I can for everyone involved.

Nope. You use slave keys to open them from inside, go out and close them. When you want to go home you just teleport to HF.

You can close a gate from the outside with a slave key even though your not on the right side anymore ?
