should i always seal my cornerposts? what are the dangers of not sealing them?

If they are on a claim, no danger. Only you (As long as you're the owner of the claim) can build more walls. If they aren't on a claim, seal them. If they aren't on a claim, but will be soon, keep a good eye on them. Also, extend your claim like 2-4 tiles beyond your pali so people can't abuse lean-to's.

This was changed in a recent update and is, in theory, no longer possible. Lean-tos require a minimum space between them now.

With the changes in inspecting animals, does this mean we can't inspect tamed animals anymore? How is breeding supposed to work?

Animal stats are shown in their window, yes? "Inspect" is referring to the inspect tool.
