I've found uppercut and sideswipe works pretty well on larger animals, so if you get them instead of chop/take aim, you're set

Nah. You just have to take it slow with ants. A fox is dangerous if you don't have armor yet, but doable around 20 UA/15 AGI, even without chop or armor. The big difference is ants leave wounds it takes a little foraging to instantly heal, foxes can leave deep cuts and bruises that need treatments. Bats are easier than foxes (a whole lot easier than previous world), but have the same drawback of leaving wounds if you don't have some armor (3-5 is usually enough).

Combat questions aren't simple. Nobody has written a thorough guide yet. I wish I could give you an easy link, but I can't.

I'm playing as a (mostly) hermit. In w9, I had a village and I could keep it alive playing alone. I only had 2 banners. How many banners a not-so-hardcore player can keep without running out of authority? (I am planning to have 6 banner at most, later in the game)

I succeeded in training a horse for the first time and tried right clicking on a horse.
What are the effects of "Shoo" and "Slaughter" in the action list?
Would it be irresponsible if you choose again?
