We digging stones that are below us, at level 1, it can be confirmed by prospecting. In W9 I had newer seen porphyry, marble or cinnabar on level 1. If nothing was changed then answer is no, it's impossible to dig porphyry on mountain terrain.

hornblende can be dug up from a stone plateau on normal grassland.
