Perhaps, can't say it would be "much better", though. It's all a matter of opinion, after all :D blackthorn wouldn't look good in doors IMO, though. It's better for the roof tiles. Also the colors wouldn't match that good. It's already dark overall, so Schist gives a contrast, which basalt or black ore wouldn't give. It's also the main stone used for construction on the other houses so it matches that. It turned out exactly as I wanted it, actually :D

Yep, I'm afraid :( But I think that's a mighty suggestion I'd certainly back up should you post it in C&I. Split stone types in 3, 1st for base, secondary for door, tertiary for column bases.
Also, making the door secondary and column bases tertiary wouldn't mess up already built great halls, so the change could be made easily.

The dark towers need a dark mortar between the stones. Just looks bad, I think, though I love the idea.
