I don't see any rotation, any ghost or graphical indication of how the object will be rotated, and when I put it down its orientation is random. This has become an urgent issue because I'm trying to move my cupboards into a new house and I can't get the doors to face the right way.

I should note that shift+scroll does work for rotating buildings, but not for lifted objects.

right click the object when you have it lifted to provide yourself a ghost image of the item, shift scrolling will move it in like 15* increments, holding shift and Ctrl i believe gives it even smaller increments.

Thanks. I was missing that you have to click the object to get a ghost image.

My new problem is that I can't get the cupboards to sit tightly next to each other. When I get the ghost in the perfect spot, I can't put it down. It only lets me place it if there's a little gap between them. Do I have to just destroy them and build new cupboards?

Breaking them won't help your situation as the placement for the construction box will be the same way. If you're using Amber or one of the other clients that shows bounding boxes, they may not be in exactly the same position as the actual bounding box. Loftar has said, if I recall right, that the bounding boxes on objects aren't precise. My understanding is that both the custom client visual boxes aren't exactly right, and that the bounding boxes don't line up with the object in a precise manner.

It takes some practice, but you can use the console command ":placegrid <size>" to increase the number of snap points. You're not going to notice much difference past 100, I don't think, though it can be any number from -(2 ^ 31) to 2^31 http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Console_Commands
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I remember asking loftar about this and he said 11 is the best number to have items align adjacent with each other. I'll try to find the quote

loftar wrote:If you want something similar to the previous placement mode, then try :placegrid 11. The placement will be offset by half a pixel compared to the previous mode, but they should line up in the same way relative to other objects placed with :placegrid 11.

How rare are strawberries? My current quest is to find and eat one, but I'm having a hard time finding any. My perception is high enough, I've found a strawberry before.

Are they actually found in heath biomes like the wiki says? I've walked at least 40 minutes away from my base and still no sign of strawberries in any biome.

Hi all!

I have seen on the forum that quality of localised resources is doubled when used in calculations. My question is if this principle applies for building and crafting as well. For example, if I use q50 Pit Clay to build a kiln, what q that kiln will have: 50 or 100? Or if I craft a treeplanters pot with q50 Pit Clay, what q will be the output, assuming I have q50+ potter's wheel?

Thanks.

I've found them in greensward and cloudrange; they are probably in others too. They're pretty common.

For the future: use a Garden Pot for strawberries: http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Garden_Pot
