found a guano resource in a cave. My question is, how long does it take for guano to get a resource? and, the guano pile said 5/50, yet i highly doubt anyone has been down here to find it for ages. so, does it actually go to 50? or is this a bug?

In theory it will get to 50. In practice, I bet it won't get past 10. Localized resources share from a global pool when they are generated. My understanding is that nodes with charges will be filled later than those that are empty. There's still a random factor, but the odds of it going up if others in the world have fewer charges are lowered.

Other than that, tuber mash with beets + sheepsmilk is the best. You could also try mushroom pie with sheepsmilk, raisin-butter cake with sheepsmilk + wheat, or pancakes with sheepsmilk + wheat.
