Generally if you try to inspect something and nothing happens, that means the quality doesn't matter. (Examples: cheese racks, chairs, tables, cupboards, walls). If you inspect and see a quality number, then the quality probably matters. For beds it speeds up wound progression, and I think it also speeds up travel weariness reduction.
