This is a great idea. Great on many levels! However it does need some serious tweaking. In theory just about any wound will heal over time…Exceptions are losing limbs, eyes, etc.

I love the idea of something like that being added, even if it is from a rare animal attack, but more than likely from pvp damage…lose an arm from a sword, skull crushed from a mace. Whatever.

I also like the idea of the more wounds you have the slower they all heal over time. No wound should have an instant heal, but applying salves or other healing methods to specific wound types should increase the speed of the healing process.

There should be different methods to help cure different types of wounds. So in closing, great idea, but please consider in time all wounds do heal…even if it takes a long time.

If the scars are added please make them show on your character. That'd be awesome. I'd totally let myself be mauled by a bear just to get a cool looking scar.

I agree.

The reason we made it this way is because we considered whether wounds should generally advance their states while the character is offline. We decided against that because we figured that it would suck if you got, say, a bleeding wound, and thus died in your sleep because you logged out without patching up.

But since we have now noticed the awful incentives to afk for healing that we've thus introduced, we are now going to change all of this around so that wounds advance beneficial states (healing), but do not advance detrimental ones (bleeding, tumorous cancer, &c) while offline. This planned act of infinite leniency on our part of course earning us enough karma and goodwill to afford at least three major clusterfuck implementations with no complaints allowed.

Before y'all shit your pants I might also add that there are no wounds which grow worse over time. Yet.

He already mentioned the bleeding wound type. Which would require some kind of bandage to staunch I'd assume.

Man... this opens up the possibility of multiple healing types. No bandage available? Cauterize the wound for a larger scar but immediate safety.

If you do add them, at least give us a heads up. I know you guys like to troll the players on some stuff or let us figure it out on our own, but the rage over something like this will be as bad as an unannounced paywall...
