I don't seem to be having any luck with mining. Is it a case of keep digging forwards until I get lucky or do I keep searching for veins along the cave walls? Is there a better method?

I do need to find some metal at some point!

get high quality rustroot. It will point you to the glorious metal.

I don't think you need to rush for metal since you can almost do everything without it (exception of grinding sausage) Plus even after you found it you might need tons of str to mine it anyway.

I disagree. Saw, axe, shovel, meat grinder are all pretty good quality of life improvements.

In my guide I suggest you keep picking at walls. Veins can be quite far apart.

Yes, somone can. Im not sure if blocking mineholes with roundpole fence still works. But i suggest you to build brickwall or palisade around your minehole for extra safety.

What is needed to build a hitching post? I have the rope to try and tame something but nowhere to tie it to.
