Wasn't there some way to repair or recycle items (not sure if/how gildings were affected)? I vaguely recall something like this when I was last playing, but I don't remember clearly.

You can recycle gilded item by click on one item and right click on other item. I think both items must be same item, have no free gilding slot, and have same gildings in them. Something like this.

And what is the result of doing this?

I forget exactly, so I think you will have to test yourself. It does some thing like gives you chance to refund gilding, or maybe chance to open another slot on equipment?

You can now recycle old completed pieces of equipment. Hold a completed piece of equipment, and right click another completed piece of equipment of the same kind. The item held will be consumed to repair the clicked item. Your final product will be one item of that type, with a clean slot, and with qualities averaged. You then roll once for each gilding in either of the pieces of equipment -- chance being half of what your normal chance to gild the item would be -- if you succeed you keep the gilding as slotted into the new end product, and failing that you have another chance (50%) to keep the gilding as a loose, available, gilding.

AFAIK: no.

AFAIK: no.

There does seem to be some variance in tree types, but it's no more than a few hours on a full load. This may be inconsequential in the long run, but if a person is trying to get their first coal as fast as possible, it might matter. All I know is I've lit multiple tar kilns at the same time, and from using the random trees around base, they never finish together. If I stuff them with the same type of wood, they finish pretty much at the same time.

Isn't the amount you stuff in more important, or was that removed?
