The food just needs to be high enough to cover the animal's quality. newborns feed from the mother (or a milk barrel if mother wanders too far away).

and crimes committed in a Realm leave no scent.

AFAIK only people sworn to the realm leave no scents on its territory. And I am not sure if this mechanic is still in place (for some reason I thought it is not).

Question about beds. Bed itself make natural wounds healing faster. Travel weaariness also fade faster when you sleep in bed. Higher q of bed - faster rest. Question - hunger replenish while sleeping in bed faster as well?

Usually either carrots (highest q, especially useful at the current early game) or pumpkins (easiest to handle regarding mass farming) are used.

Beets would work, but are not preffered.

General consensus: yes. Upsides, more fodder per tile than carrots. Downsides: slower growing time, more inventory to manage per tile.

Pumpkins work, too, but due to the slow growth cycle, they don't raise in quality as fast.

IIRC there was something like each crop had their own local softcap quality value. Do we still have that system?

One more question. How does work softcap of mining stones? For stone axe it works pretty easy. First - stone is hardcapped by masonry and then it softcapped by axe. But pickaxe looks like work different. Any ideas, how exactly? Seems like q of pickaxe multiplied by 1.5 before softcapping, but i'm totally sure it's not like this.
