As a fairly loose rule, what you said is accurate. You can look at the exterior (bark) for the blocks, and the coloured ends for the boards but it's not accurate 100% of the time.

Yeah according to the link that granger has pine is pretty much a bright tan colour for both blocks and boards even though the bark is clear brown colour. I'll the use the gizmo is linked at any rate. Thanks guys

Keep in mind that different lighting can change the appearance, the linked site is quite accurate though (as it seems to use the original textures).

There are definitely some where that rule doesn't hold true, carts, trellises, I think cisterns/granaries are weird, etc. I'd say prooobably about 75% of the time you can get a good idea just from glancing at a log what the resulting textures will be.

Yes and (I believe) yes, you can also Hearthfire teleport with a cart, if you didn't know that one.

Is there a list of recommended clothing and gilding sets around?

I don't mean a tutorial or how it works but a list of the different clothing sets that are recommended to craft and gilding. Farmer, Miner, smithy and the associated gildings from easy to hard etc

I'm guessing it's asking a lot so I'm hoping that someone might've posted it already
