How do foragables respawn? Is it after a fixed period no one has been there or it checks in intervals and if no one is around during the check, it reloads map?

In case the server dosn't detect a character needing the map for some time it unloads it.

1. Is it still the case that there is only a 5 hour window to beat down/tame an animal before it despawns? Seems kinda harsh, you miss out on a few days worth of taming just because you went to bed

Will a cold compress despawn after 12 hours or is that just for the snow?

Also if I cover up an animal (for milk/wool) that's going through the taming process will it 'reset' it?

Certain brainiac tried to argue (long time ago) that snow shouldn't decay since Cold Compress doesn't decay. Devs made Cold Compress decay in the next patch.

Horse metbolism. According to wiki, it determines how much pony power each unit of food is converted to.What exactly does it means? Higher metabolism means i will get more pony power from same satiety spending or it means i will spent less satiety to restore same pony power? (it's two different things, just in case).

From my experience, palisade doesn't take damage from caveins, but if it occurs outside the palisade it can collapse inside destroying other things.

The first one. Endurance corresponds to total pony power, stamina reduces time between ticks of satiety spending, metabolism raises pony power per tick.
