I completely agree with this viewpoint where you're always taking some kind of small wound, but you CAN in theory fully heal all of them with enough time/bandaids/nettles shoved into your skin. It kind of kills my OCD to see my max hp at 116/118 or something silly like that. And when you get in more fights and it gets lower, it would be a good reminder to back off a bit. If you do decide to implement scarring, can you make them go away after a long time? perhaps a month? Scars do fade in real life, and eventually become almost completely invisible unless its on very hard tissue.

I agree. Poppies should have healing applications.

Damage soak - absolutely not. Just because you take a few painkillers doesn't mean that you're impervious to damage. I'd get behind the idea that it sort of 'delays' the wounds received - heck, since it's that time period, we could have berserkers. Basically you get jacked up on a potion of poppies, mushrooms, herbs and whatnot and you receive no damage for a limited amount of time. Then after the timer's up - you receive all the damage at once. Perhaps this should be limited to say double your hp. After all, if you decapitate someone or cut him in half, he'll die regardless of any drugs or potions. To make it less OP you could make it take a lot of time (which it did in reality) so it wouldn't be a last ditch effort but a calculated decision. Plus some severe withdrawal effects if you manage to survive.

To quote a source:
"This fury, which was called berserkergang, occurred not only in the heat of battle, but also during laborious work. Men who were thus seized performed things which otherwise seemed impossible for human power. This condition is said to have begun with shivering, chattering of the teeth, and chill in the body, and then the face swelled and changed its colour. With this was connected a great hot-headedness, which at last gave over into a great rage, under which they howled as wild animals, bit the edge of their shields, and cut down everything they met without discriminating between friend or foe. When this condition ceased, a great dulling of the mind and feebleness followed, which could last for one or several days"

Maybe not healing the wounds itself, but lessening the debuffs caused by them - and maybe causing others if overdone (or in general). It's an opiate.

Extract if Poppy oil? Apply before any other type of bandage enhancing its affect. Since it might disfect and numb the area (possably adding an agility reduction).
