How much tar should 1 block of wood produce? My team has 3 tar kilns each with 1 piece of wood in them, and we've collected over 35 liters of tar. More than 10 liters of tar per wood block? That doesn't sound right at all.

Not to mention the single tar kiln has been running since day 1 with a full load. It's still running. We haven't recieved any charcoal from the kilns yet...

That's a pretty massive block of wood, even for a tree that produces a lot of resins like certain pines. I'd think that'd be more like the whole tree trunk rather than a "block"

I wouldn't... really complain. Tar is a convenience item, I don't want less of it cause realism XD

the point he is making is that it hasn't burned out yet. The real prize is the charcoal, not the tar.

At this point I just hope that one day I'll come to my tar kiln, click on it with Rmb and suddenly a Tar Kiln UI will emerge! I will be like "yey!" until I see the progress bar and then be like "are you shitting me? that was just the HALF of the time?!" and then I'll know when it finishes and will just stop waiting.

I've done some testing with 4 kilns full of 1-2 blocks of different types of wood.

It seemed capped is 3.5 days IRL for kiln "cooldown" to burn through initial log after that it ticks for 3-4h depending on wood for each block. So rough formula is 84+(4*x), Its the best average you can get.

And yes, mirkwood is one of the slowest burning materials to use for as coal.

I've had my kiln filled with 10 blocks of pine and it finished in around 15h

To me all this messages about "tar kiln finished" seems like a trolling. I'm sure that they are bugged!

I have 8 of them and none finished. What a bullshit!
