A player can always study the bond of blood & soil for a claim to take it over. It takes 96 hours in a character's study. After it is finished, the claim is now yours and you can expand or remove it at your leisure. To prevent abuse of this, there's a command in the claim management window that allows the current owner to create a new bond for the cost of half of the presence... just in case someone loses one, changes their mind, or whatever. You can then give it back in the same way.

Probably easier just to fend them INT and more curios, though. Or put up a village... as the posts above suggest.

No. Only houses and containers can be lockpicked. Gates and ships cannot.
Total misplay.

I had assumed the former, but after mining through a 0.01 tile (that did not indicate a prior trigger tile) followed by a no-dust tile (i.e., a trigger tile) under a mine support followed by a 0.01 tile, I had figured the next tile was safe, but I was unexpectedly hit by a cave-in. Did I mess up my minesweeper at some point or did the already triggered trigger tile no longer count towards the dust total?

Trigger tiles, regardless of whether or not they are currently filled with rock or not. They can re-trigger if a cave in fills the tile.

This is how I understand it, but with cavesweeper are you sure you didn't make a mistake? Happens to the best of us.

Just found out a strange mechanic when mining CAVE tiles, that can give you cave-in even with perfect minesweep. From what i observed, empty spaces in mine can still "have" a cave-in in them, meaning there will be a dust in nearby wall tiles, even if all the real walls around the tile are safe. This made me miscalculate, and get a cave-in a few tiles later, which would normally not be possible.

Yeah, digging into a wall "blind" always leaves you vulnerable to that. But if you're playing reasonable with your HHP% it's not too dangerous to eat a cave in here or there.

Nothing? If you mean getting knocked out, then in shallow water, boat or no boat, you'll be fine, but in deep water you'll drown and die unless in a boat.
Total misplay.

Pretty sure it doesn't need the First Aid skill as I have it in my menu. You probably haven't found salt water.

Fishing question - is there a concrete reason when you lose your bait? Got into one spot with chum bait, got plenty of fish, went there with entrails and lost all of them. Is it the wrong bait for fish in that place, got too small Q, stats, or . . ?
