Some tips on preparing for being sieged? Im a peaceful player but i wanna build big village and im afraid of being attractive victim to stronger players. Should i build multiple palisades? maybe stock on cloth for archer towers? Wiki seems outdated so i rather ask here

I've noticed bait quality matters. Lower quality bait seems more likely to be lost. Applies to lures for sure as well. But it does seem to be based on location, which I guess you could say is wrong type of bait for that fish.

Haven't fully figured it out myself sadly.

Sieging is a big pain in the ass. If someone's willing to go through the trouble of sieging you, as a hermit without allies there's very likely nothing you can do at all. Archery towers can slow them down and make it more expensive in terms of brimstone but it won't stop someone competent if you can't go out past your walls and kill the siegers.

Honestly the biggest thing you can do is make sure to have a pvp airlock. Also protects you from animals.

(house door locked with same key as pvp gate for convenience)

If being chased and aggroed in pvp, you can't walk through V gates. This lets you run inside, either closing the door to break line of sight or trapping them inside with you. The log cabin can be run into to de-aggro. If the enemy manages to down you or kill you, they're stuck inside the airlock until red-handed wears off.

What is purpose of visitor gate in this diagram?

Same purpose of visitor gate anywhere: push the visitor flag onto anyone crossing it. Without it, you might as well not even have an airlock as they could just waltz right past the gates.

Quality matters, yes. From what I recall in jorb mentioning this past worlds, some fish species just like to steal bait... or even break lines for that matter. There's always a strong chance with them. In other cases, it could be that you just don't have the right bait for that spot and the fisherman is just going to hit a lot of "lost bait" fail rolls. While bait fishing doesn't get the same view that lure fishing gets, it is still figured up the same way.

It is my understanding this ''safe house structure'' has use for when you are chased by some bad man who likes to kill you. In this case, you can not cross this visitor gate because you will be in combat. What good it is here?

Combat breaks shortly after changing maps--in this case, entering a house. Letting combat time out while chilling inside the house a few seconds allows you to cross the visitor gate.

edit: without the house, you're just stuck in combat until the attacker leaves. Can't hearth, can't cross the visitor gate.

Yes, I understand purpose of house. What is purpose of visitor gate? Once I have drop combat I can hearth out or take regular gate. What is benefit of include visitor gate instead of only have regular gate?

Purpose of the visitor gate is to make this a simple addon to your regular entrance gate. Rather than making an entirely separate airlock, this is just "beefing up" your normal gates to also serve as a pvp airlock.

Image

I forgot to include the roundpole fence gate. Because the Vgate prevents you from crime, an unlocked roundpole fence acts as a locked gate if you force them to get the visitor buff first. For regular village activity, leaving the Vgate open but closing the roundpole gate prevents animals from wandering in and secures this as a fully functional pvp airlock.

Where is village in relation to these diagram? On side of normal or visitor gate?
