I suggest looking at the front page of this threat.
But if you want to see them on Buildings, you will have to try it out yourself.

IMO Alder looks best of all boughs. That's my little timberhouse with it:

So I can change the texture of a roof but I can't get rid of that greenish base color? Turn it into something golden like straws or so? Well, so be it then...

Ty for the example, it does look great!

I will try Spruce this time for all walls, I hope to get them white or close to white with dark pillars.
Wastelands. Ruins everywhere from proud civilizations, with today's survivors scavenging whatever they can carry even if they can't even use it. Eating rats cooked alive is OK for everyone. Walking around naked is natural, since very few have time to waste in getting a rag to cover their deep wounds. And the game is only Alpha.

Well, straw is a thatching material, but it has a different texture.

In the 'Etch-a-sketch' update devs made it so that you can change mats in a build that you aren't happy with by using the store sketchbooks, I've not tried it on a roof but am assuming it applies ... so there is always that option.

jorb wrote:As suggested in the previous patch, we have, since we perceived that it could be a welcome addition, made it so that you can now use store sketches to set the variable materials of already built buildings. To do so, right-click a sketch page from the Shoppe, and chose "Change building material" to activate the change material cursor mode. First, click the part of a building you'd like to change, and then click an item with the material you would like to change to. (For example: First, click to change the door of the house, and then click a woodblock.) Doing this displays the material as a preview on the building. Click the material item again to actually set it to the building, and in doing so consume a sketch page and, nota bene, the item providing the material. Do note that changing a door will presently not change the inside of the door, although you can use another sketch page to set it manually. We'd like to fix this, but it's a bit of work. You can never change materials without claim permissions.

Oh I am such an idiot...I didin't know the log cabin uses a sec. material for the inner wood color of the logs on the building. So nevermind the queststion from the other page.

I was wondering if someone can tell me what wood was used to build this cabin.
I may not say to whom it belongs to give the person the opportunity to reveal himself if he wishes to do so or just let it be.

I'd guess Planewood for the tips and something like Spruce for the outside

It's acctually all Maple...the ends use the bark color. I got arround to ask the owner, but thank you anyway.

EDIT: It is maple as primary material and plane as sec. I found that out the hard way.

Couldn't find a single plane tree, resorted to walnut. And I think I actually prefer it.

Boards 35 walnut 25 elm, all flint for the stone, and all maple blocks. tin for the door handle, something else might look better there.
Oh boy, here I go cheesemaking again...

@ Hazzor ... walnut has a rich deep tone ... looks nice. Maybe copper for the door handle. :)

My new windmill, I'm really pleased with it. :D

Basalt - Polar planks - Witherwood blocks and wool for sails.

I've been using a lot of witherwood this world, it has such a nice effect I think;
