You can't solo a mammoth without cheesing. Either use a cave or a snekkja/knarr on a shore. Even with 4k stats that thing still hits like a truck.

In legacy, the "hird" named gear could only be worn by people who were a part of the chieftain's hird. Is that still the case?

1. No Chieftains in the game currently.
2. I don't think any piece of equipment is currently restricted to people with X title. (I remember being in group during w9 that had a communal Lawspeaker's Hat to fit some extra curios into study. (it was time before the Gilding system, when said hat was only cheap INT gear.))
