Thanks guys!
What about despawning? I lured the aurochs to my settlement and roped it to a hitching post. I didn't try to beat it, though, and as it says in the wiki - it despawned.
If I somehow lure it to fenced area and not try to rope it, would it stay there or would it despawn?

You need to have tried to beat it when it enters its "pissed off" stage. It happens about once every 24+ hours.

See this pic. The boar in the foreground has entered an unusual stance, like a bull about to charge. Other animals will enter the same pose some time after you leash them.

Edit: If you just lured the animal to a fenced area and didn't tie it off, it would despawn.

You need to stay on screen with them to prevent them despawning, a lot of players use an alt to do this for milking or shearing.

You're right, hadn't done this in a while and confused it with domesticated ones.

They have two big wings, a pretty big fuselage, a cockpit...

Nah, they actually look really generic:

I can't remember which terrains they're common on though

Despite adding the tree to my radar, searching for 4-5 hours via boat and looking for this tree manually, I have yet to find one, can anyone confirm what the natural biome is?

I can't tell you the name of the biome without logging into the game, which I can't do atm ... but I can provide you with an in-game pic of it;

It's the yellow biome on your map ... hope it helps.
