Dowsing Rod not very functional

Postby Saxony4 » Sun Aug 30, 2015 12:06 am

Anyone else have any luck finding water springs with the dowsing rod? I have yet to find any indication of a spring whatsoever and the the slices constantly change direction with no results.

Much more confusing than how it used to be.

No, they're pretty much impossible to use right now. It's faster (like, actually, I'm not being facetious) to just try to place a well on every single tile until it lets you build one.

I managed to get one to work, its super confusing and would be really nice if it at least did something basic like have something mark the spring while out, walked around for like half an hour till I realized that it would suddenly do a 180 change in direction which is where the spring was, wells are really cheap though.. unfortunately only base quality water from that one it seems.

Thanks a ton for this!!! I managed to find the location for my well within 2-3 minutes of just trial and error trying to place it.

Finally I can get some water :D :D :D

It's confusing now because it doesn't work the way it used to in Legacy Haven. It used to show both the wedges and the actual spots where you could place the well, now you can only see the wedges. The way to use the dowsing rod is to wait for a wedge to appear, and then take a small step in that direction. Repeat until the wedge changes direction, you're now standing on top of the well spot.

Ah, so like old style prospecting. Which was quite frustrating to engage in.

Admittedly I was really happy I figured it out back in the day, but it was still a pain to actually do.
