How do I raid an ant hill?

On the old HnH I used to run into the water and ants would leave me alone, but the trick doesn't work anymore. So.. How do I raid an ant hill without getting knocked down by ants?
Btw, why are the ants so damn fast? :O

Not all ants are that fast. maybe a few are bugged (pun intended) and move faster?

I hear cliffs will confuse them, though they are ants and can climb almost anything. you can always do what you could do before and just walk off about a screen away, let them catch up to you, then run back to the hill as fast as you can to raid it while they're still following after you. Takes some practice and timing to do this right, but it works every time.
