Ore boulders?

I'm lead to believe these exist and rarely spawn amongs regular boulders. I've been nonstop looking for them across mountains for hours now and have spotted zero. Am I missing something?

They exist, but they're really rare.

I found a boulder (looks blacker than the rest) that gave me black (or dark) ore. I think I've seen more boulders of black ore though.

The same, just darker color. Btw, the dark/black ore that I got from it counted as stone, so it's very much possible that it isn't real ore.

Every boulder looks unique. I've seen at least 15 different looking boulders.

They might be real ore, they are the only stone I found that can be put in the smelter. I tried to smelt some, but don't have enough coal for that at the moment. Will try to smelt it later when my tar kiln finishes producing coal

That is an ore boulder. That specific one gives Cassiterite (tin) ore.
