Is there a downside to either? Does one cost more than the other?

I'm almost sure Bond of soil doesn't cost you anything (except a slot)

Yes. You are also be able to acquire ownership of a claim by keeping a bond for it in your mentory for some time.

Wait so that's why there's a ticker on my partner's bond?
Not that I mind but timezones means not everyone is properly kinned and not everyone would have access. Is there any way to not let the claim transfer?
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

Nope. Just kin up and set permissions. Why do you have other people's bonds in your mentory? If you do, why is it a problem if you become the owner?
