Whenever the wood runs out you can collect charcoal.

its not charcoal like w7 its liquid tar that needs a bucket to collect ? or is there a solid charcoal i missed ?

I think there's a solid, but you need to wait for the logs to burn out and not refuel it.

Obviously you can't just go into a fire with your hand and grab the burning hot charcoal

Tar can be used to make tar sticks, which are supposedly also a fuel. Didn't get to testing them yet.
