A discussion on stats and visible effects

Postby Archiplex » Wed Sep 02, 2015 9:18 am

I'll post more tomorrow on this thread, but I'm going to list comparisons between old/new stats, and what they seem to impact. Quality for items not included.

Strength:
Damage on attacks, mining speed
With 9 strength, Punch dealt 8 damage, Left hook deal 13. With 12, they did 10/13. With 23, they did 17/23.

Agility:
Impacts cooldowns for skills heavily. It has been reported that a transfer from 14 agility to 8 agility nearly doubles cooldowns.

Perception:
Impact accuracy for ranged attacks (In collaboration with other factors)
Impacts foragables able to see.

Constituion:
Impacts stamina drain (All activites? Just swimming?)
Impacts maximum health (+5 for first two points, +4 from then on, will scale down as you raise it.)

Intelligence:
Impacts maximum mental capacity/weight for studying curiosities.
Impacts stealth in conjuction with stealth skill (?)

Charisma:
Seems to impact the taming process, Unknown confirmation.

Dexterity
No known uses aside quality.

Psyche
No known uses aside quality.
the proliferation of automation is the rot of this game, with the next worst thing being the filth that plays it (you, probably.)

Agility is likely relative to your opponent's agility. Whoever had more in legacy acted sooner by up to 1.25x and whoever had less acted slower as low as 0.75x. We're likely seeing something similar.

*tsks*

Several beginner items use psy as a crafting softcap :P Following legacy patterns, that's likely to be its main importance. Ditto goes for dex. Outside crafting softcaps they didn't do much however.

Formula for HHP is sqrt(con/10) * 100. 100 HHP at 10, 200 at 40, etc.

Probably easier to say what is changed from http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Attributes. Do note that is the w7 wiki and much of the information may be inaccurate on specifics, but general information may still apply. There is a w8 wiki in the process, but may yet be a few days before it is announced as being up.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
