What's the usage of hitching post since we can't tame horses?

Taming moufloons, aurochsen, boars perhaps?
W3 to W6 - Blockland. Special mentions: New Avalon, Tarn of Hotdog, Red October.
W7 - Elvenia, til we all got lazy.
W8 - Cult of R'lyeh, til the deeps called us back.
W9 - Tartarus, til death/wizards came for the land itself.
W10 - ???, ruined and forgotten.

Okay, I guess I'm not completely aware of hitching posts' functionality. Tie a rope to a post, tie the other end to a horse to make it stay. Why the hell would i do the same to aurochsen instead of just putting them inside their fence where they eat, sleep etc.

Because wild creatures will unload with the map if they aren't hitched, and because they won't move to be tamed when they aren't.

Oh, I thought hitching post is for already tamed animals...

Another question: is there any difference between Lady's Mantle and Dewy Lady's Mantle? I remember in Legacy they had 6 and 3 mental weight respectively but here they both are 6 mental.

There should be a difference, but I think there's a bug with them right now.

My imagination already drew me a picture of me roping the boar and dragging it to the hitch post while it beats the living shit out of me

You're not too far off.

As of now, Lady's Mantle and Dewy Lady's Mantle can both be studied at the same time because the game sees them as different currios. Thats the only difference as far as I know
