Yes, it gives 2 slots. There are also traveler's sacks and probably merchant robes as well.

Is there a special Q you need ? I have just discovered leather but I don't want to waste it that's why. I guess I'll do a leather backpack if you don't need Q10+ to have 2 more space (rows)

Not that I know of. My backpack is only q9 and it gives 2 spaces.
