Plane wood is the best wood. Dark dark brown colour. Walnut wood is also really good, it's a dark reddish brown colour.

Picture related, the darkest wood is plane wood, the other wood is walnut wood. Stone is Schist and the roofing is tar sticks. This is also known as the best combination in the game for making a house.

Oh, just realized that someone else stickied this thread. Thanks! Updated with more wood, stone, boughs, and contributions from others. Didn't include tar due to my tar barrel being carted off. Will remedy asap. =)

Also note that while leantos display bough color, they do not display texture. I'm going to make disposable houses to display it next time so that you can see how it will look on a building.

That looks damn good, should have taken the photo during the day though.
