Taming 2 cows

I have 2 cows in my base, I connected the both to different hitching posts, but with the same rope. Does this make the 1st one unlatch from the hitching post? Or can I use one rope for multiple cows?

You need animal husbandry for a hitching post. You might need rope twining as well.
