Mining and Ores

I was wondering how I get Heavy dirt or how to find a ore rock above ground or are they basically extinct. I have been looking for hours and hours and not one. I dont have enough strength yet to mine in a cave and I have been hearing a lot about this heavy dirt or soil. If someone could help me out it would be much appreciated.

The above ground ore is rare as it is, but you won't find very much of it until you travel an hour or two away. That time will only increase as world 8 continues. As for mining in caves, there are soft spot in the walls further into the cave. You just need to keep clicking mine onto the wall until it lets you.
