How do I know if gauze needs to be replaced?

I just got my hands on one and applied on cruel incision. Will it heal it completely on its own or do I need to replace it at some point, if so when? So far it only healed 4 points in over 1 in game day why so slow :(

All the wounds I've treated have healed completely. Something like 10-15 points per IRL day.

Heal fully, yes.

Did it just heal the wound you use treat on? or did it heal all wounds of that type. I feel like my gauze healed all the wounds of that type on my character.. But to be honest I don't think I was paying much attention when I put it on. Only afterwards did I realize I probably should have.

Should only be healing the one you actually put it on.

at the moment gauze doesn't indicated what its healing, unlike that poultice thing. it probably should if it only does 1.
