Soil q

Postby LaserSaysPew » Sun Sep 06, 2015 11:17 am

If I dig 30 30 30 q soil somewhere and then drop it on 10q soil at my base what will happen? Will crops/trees think it's a 30q soil? Will it get averaged to 20q? If so, will I be able to dig 20q there from now on?

In old haven it used to take the current soil quality, so if you dig up to 30q to 10q plants gonna take 10q.

Soil quality is based on tile location, so no that's not going to fly.

That being said, trees didn't care in old haven what soil they were planted on, only what was used to pot them. So soil dug from that node is quite useful.

So, if I find high q soil, I can dig it forever? Even if it gets too low compared to other tiles' levels I can just bring some 10q from elswhere and turn it into high q? Right?

As far as I understand the system correct. Easy to double check that by dropping Q10 dirt on a node you dislike (q12 or whatever), but how I explained it is "haven logic" that the devs have been going with for nodes for years now.

I dunno... I wouldn't go with the assumption that everything would be fine. Before you lowered the node quality by digging on it. Bringing in other soil to refill it might do the same and require time for the Q to come back up. Of course, this is making the assumption that digging on the quality node wouldn't lower it already.

I'm pretty certain that system is no longer in place for clay. Just an anecdote.

I just want anyone going into something with an assumption, going overboard, and then regretting it. Just tossing in a few words of caution in what could have been done, not what I may or may not know. (Apologies if I made it seem otherwise.)
