Water quality

Postby LaserSaysPew » Fri Sep 11, 2015 6:36 pm

Checked guides and other threads. Everyone says that Vit reduces energy drain from drinking(true) while Essence gives more stam (false). What do essence/subs actually do? 10 10 35 water takes 16 energy per 10 stamina instead of 20 per 10 for 10 10 10 water. 35 10 35 water has the exact same result. Same goes for 18 22 35 water.

Well if you're going off my tests, you got them perfectly reversed. Vit is bonus stam, essence reduces energy penalty. Substance didn't do anything.

I was testing it with 20/10/10 water and 10/10/20 water.

Edit: oh and 10/20/20 water for the subtance effect.

Just tested again.

10es 10sub 35vit water gives 10 stamina at the cost of 17 energy per 0.05l

35es 10sub 35vit water gives 10 stamina at the cost of 16 energy per 0.05l

It's possible some client side rounding threw me off. I'll double check to confirm for you.

Edit: Alright looks like my earlier result got mucked with via either rounding or really perfectly timed base stam regen ticks. I just got 10 stam off a sip of V32 water as well. I'd retested that roughly 3 times since it was a 1% difference at the time.

Seems essence is the only stat that influences water currently.

Yeap, after retesting it I agree with you Vit32 water had no visible effect on drinking to any of the stats.

Same goes for nettle clothes lol. Just now crafted 28/10/10 that gives 3 surv instead of 2 and 10/18/19 which gives the same 3 surv instead of 2.

I guess 3 qualities are just getting averaged for everything. Nothing more. Just a way to make highQ harder to achive/find.

Water has more uses than drinking tho. Those ''useless'' stats might be very important.

That said. Bring back Haven Quality system.

They are not useless. I suspect 10/10/35 water to have the same effect as 35/10/10 or 10/35/10. Average from 3 qualities. Can't test it though cuz I don't have ess only water or subs only.

Can we get a reply from the devs? At least a hint.

I'll paraphrase what Jorb told me: Each quality type will influence a different way the item functions.

Food system is well established and obviously shows that. Yes Sub/Vit water are useless for drinking, but also yes they have uses in the quality system through their impact on trees/baking mainly. Couple items do use averaged quality, but averaged quality is pointless. If everything did why not just have 1 quality type again right?

And nah, I'm fine with this system.
