Restore energy.

How do I restore a ton of energy without messing up my hunger bar? Mining seems kinda gimped atm.

Eat efficient foods. Berries and apples will fuck you over while a balanced diet of sausages, cooked meats, and veggies will get you tons of stats. Ultimately staying at lower levels of hunger requires eating enough food that you're gaining more FEPs than people who are sitting on their thumbs waiting to be at 100% FEP gain.

Other than having a constant supply of good food, rats. Tea is apparently also quite nice

At equal quality, tea costs half as much energy per stam point.

Still don't feel it outweighs the effort for making it though.

Okay so let's pretend I'm a solo hermit, I don't have metal, a grinder, sausages, or an herb table yet because no beehive and shit grows waaaaay too slow. What are high-energy food options that a person in my position has? FEP's don't really matter all that much if I'm a miner alt.

Cooked meat probably. That's mostly what I lived off of before sausages. Hunting deer/boar is pretty easy with low skills in MM and a hint of combat knowledge.

Spitroasted meat, even rabbit meat, restores 250%. Carrots restore 150%. Grubs and ants restore a lot too. Beet and their leaves are great. Blueberries and mushrooms are good.
Even without a beehive you'll be swimming in carrots and beets if you try to grow them.

Avoid fish, berries from bushes, and fruits from trees.

Rats - 450% energy (2.5% hunger)
Grub - 200% energy (1% hunger)
Also quite rare, but nice - Steamed Cavebulb (600% energy)
Dried Morels (require herbalist table) 200% energy (not sure)

Spring stew have also nice energy values, but not sure about hunger gain.

Eating bulbs for energy is like paving with bloodstone. Rats FTW, accessible and efficient.
