Silly question How do I use it?

I mean I KNOW HOW, it just isn't working for me. Attempting to create nuggets from my metal i'm prompted with ' You Need to be using a crucible for this '.
I right click the crucible and my character walks over, and I try again and still prompted with this. Am I missing something here, or could this be a bug. also here would be a picture of my crucible, next to my smelter.

could it have to do with them being so close? or to close to the hill?
Doesn't make sense though as it would not have let me build it next to the hill if I couldnt use it i presume.

you need to put coal in it and light it

Is it fueled and lit? I don't see any fire.

I've attempted to put coal in it, and it doesnt go in.
I think maybe even though my character appears close enough to it, maybe the hill is stopping me from actually connecting with it.
EDIT


Managed to shove some coal into it by placing some dirt next to the hill to the hill and making an incline. so my character no longer gets stuck like hes trying to jump.
