Prospecting

Postby D00mHouse » Sat Sep 19, 2015 10:03 pm

So it seems to be impossible to find anything better than heavy earth with prospecting. Rustroot only tells you what is below you and doesn't seem to ever indicate where the closest ore node is anymore. Anyway, my question is, where have you guys been finding useful ores? Do I have to go find a mountain to get any luck?

Rustroot extract does show nearby ores, but it looks like the extract must be above ql 10 (all elements i think). And, obviously, there must be a vein nearby. Otherwise you will only be told what's below

Does it only show an arrow if you are underground?
Also I have never foraged anything that is above q10 in all 3 qualities. Mind you I only have 20 survival so maybe that's having an effect on it.

It will always tell you what is directly below you, in case no ore is directly below but near enough for the q of rustroot elixir you'll get a pointer toward it, works underground.

Please use the search function.

If you use rustroot inside cave does it point to the ore at the same level or one level under it?

If you are inside a lv 1 cave and you use rustroot, it'll tell you what is on lv 2.

Well then Rrstroot has been severely nerfed. I think it needs a much larger range for it's ore pointing feature.

I'm having pretty bad issues with metal. I've blindly mined about 500 tiles and found a tiny node of heavy earth which gave like 4 bars total.

I've prospected about 120 times maybe? Covered about 30 - 40 red mini map grids (rustroot is above 15 ql). On my 6th mine or so? Its all blurring together at this point.

at least 30 hours spent on this now and 4 bars to show sigh... :(

--------------------------------------

Does anyone know the radius of rustroot extract? Is it the same as legacy?

-----------------------------
Idea - Would be nice if prospecting would tell us the hardness of rock as well, so if we find a node we can try to prospect our way to it through diggable rock. If you can picture that.
Ohhh that's how I make a sig, cool
