Fate?

Postby Ants » Tue Sep 22, 2015 3:07 pm

My buddy seems to be incredibly lucky. He has picked dozens of hairs from aurochsen without getting mauled and he has found two itsy bitsy spiders and one web today. He has found several others in the past few days. Could this luck be related to the fate system? What do we know about the fate system so far, anyways?

Just that it's not related to those curios. Fated curios that we know of are: Boletes, Eidels, Pearls, Chiming bluebell. Possibly some of the rare curios from crafting actions like wonderous woodshaving? But absolutely no promise on that. Flotsam isn't known because it has some weird condition required before spawning now, so don't know if it's the condition or fate making those rare.

Not a clue, I've never heard anyone who claims to know either. Obviously suspect something like destroying boats might cause it, or drowning characters, but nothing more than vague thoughts.

I've never seen one either so :/

how do you know about the flotsam special condition, Sevenless?

spiders and webs aren't super hard to come by, just pick everything you find and you can easily find a couple a day.

The flotsam condition was introduced a while back I thought? I remember it from one of my play throughs in legacy. At the time the condition existing was alluded to by jorb, but never explained (and I've yet to hear anyone publicly explain what it is if they discovered it).

Stands to reason it still exists since no one's found it publicly despite numerous claims of pearls edels and etc. And I just checked, it's not on the page of "not ported from legacy".

I must say i play around 2/4 hours a day, and since the game was released I've just founded 2 boulettes and my gf has finded 1. Because we dont have much time to play, and we have been killed at least once both of us, we havent focused much in foraging on something different than building our industry etc.
Whoever sayd that !the algorithms say something like "not beeing actively searching for it" "was wrong.
I bet its something related to luck, as shubla sayd. Otherwise the system isnt working as planned because casuals and hardcore gamers matches the same, those shits doesnt appear.

I repeat: I started playing the first day and I've founded just 2 shitty bolettes.

Do you have the PER*EXP stat to see the better curios?

It's strange in that, you need high PER*EXP to see these things, but if you spend your day foraging you'll find nothing. But without the stats, you can't see the things. So you need to have the stats, and specifically not spend much time looking for them to find them.

From what i know loftar has a certain fondness to copy/paste code - it's most likely similar to the experience system where I get the "weeping willow" experience almost every day (when my char gets some random exp like lets say walking on grass I just click the nearby willows a few times).

I suspect it's not just related to a slowly increasing probability modifier that resets every time you find something interesting - I'd guess it's also time/intensity delayed like experiences - if you play for several hours strait and have already gotten a number of exp your chances of getting more are at around zero.

I posit that for example when you log on to your char for the first time during the day and start playing a positive probability modifier will kick in at some point for boiling mussels and there will be a window in which you have a high chance of finding a pearl but after that window closes your chances will be zero and a hard capped timer counting down for a new window to open will reset every time you boil mussels before it's (the timer) up - making brute forcing pearls not only impossible but also counter productive to boiling mussels casually.

The problem is I can, in a certain way, force a willow experience because experiences in general are common and I know when the window is open but fate curios are too rare to be an indicator.
