Rare Rocks? Do they spawn like bluebells?

Hi people,

Let's discuss rare rocks... (magnetite, bloodstone, chalcopyrite, black ore, silver, gold, etc.)

Has anyone ever experienced a rare rock "spawn"? There have been areas I've frequented without a rare rock, but then a few days later I might come back to that very spot... lo and behold there is a rare rock.

It almost seems to me that rocks are a "fate" like spawn (similar to bluebell or bolete). Some more on this theory... I have often explored for a while in search of these rocks, many of which I've found in areas completely devoid of non-ore rocks (dolomite, marble, basalt, gneiss, etc.). To me, that's an odd thing, like these rare rocks spawn independently from fields of regular stone.

A few other friends of mine have also said they found rare ore rocks in areas where there previously were none.

Can anyone add to this theory? Thanks!

My village didn't document it well at the time, which I regret, but all of us swear up and down that malachite rocks would spawn around the village. We'd clear one out and take it home and a new one would be there after a day or two. We'd also found ore rocks right next to the village twice which shouldn't have been possible as they were like 15 spaces away and there's no way we could have missed them if they were already there. Inversely, we've also seen devoid areas that contain no ore rocks no matter how long we've been there or checked them. I have no working theories though.

So perhaps there are areas with a tendency to spawn a certain kind of rock.

Does that reflect what might be under the surface as well?

From what Teck said, maybe related to the bug posted a few weeks back about boulders regrowing/respawning?

edit: now I can't remember how it was worded, I can't find it.

I don't think it's got anything to do with fate, the ore boulders just seem to respawn in the same general area.
