How does food variety bonus work?

I mean exactly. How is it determined?
It's not a % of max FEP, since I am getting around 4 FEP reduction at 100 max with 50% efficacy, same reduction I was getting at a lot lower max FEPs.

maybe that happens only when your efficacy is 50%?

Any time you eat a food, you get a reduction in FEP needed to gain an attribute point. The old formula is still on the wiki. The new formula is yet to be determined, if significantly different. We do know from the devs that hunger levels do have an effect on the variety bonus. (I'd have to dig for the quote.)
