So hard starting off, can't catch rabbits and scared to figh

Can't catch rabbits and scared to fight anthills... Been having a rough start. Once I did actually catch two rabbits. I logged on to find someone had stolen my leathers.

Believe it or not this is the fun part before the grind. Hunker down and treat it like a Naked and Afraid simulator. If it were easy it wouldn't be fun!

For rabbits you can't catch try and scare them in the direction of a fox who may then kill it for you. For foxes if you can get them in the vicinity of a badger it may kill it for you. Free fox carcass/skin.

Rabbits also tend not to run if you approach at crawl speed however this requires some luck. Looking for rabbits in fields you can sprint in makes it super easy. Also a strategy for non sprinting biomes, is to approach the rabbit close to its flee range and stand still, there's a chance it will 'randomly' decide to walk towards you making it an easy catch.

make some bunny slippers with your first furs, they make you run faster when catching rabbits.

Approach the rabbit, stop ur toon at 6,7 tiles ,set max speed and right click the rabbit in the minimap ,not in game window. U need also 4 space in ur inventory 2x2 .

Read sevenless guide on how to raid ant hills, you don't need to fight them tho. You never need to fight them unless you going to start upping your UA and get new combat skills.

You should be a nomad until you get enough for yeomanry tho in my opinion. Keep moving further away from the first spawn and hunker down you you see less settlement around you. Then there will be no problem of people stealing your rabbits fur.

If you attack the ants individually they only come one at a time, you do need to kill them at a certain speed before they start respawning to raid the ant hill. They only do 1 hard hit point damage and the wounds they give you are healable. Just tested on a brand new character 10 strength 1 unarmed was killing ants. Just make sure you keep your defenses up they are slow you can kite them to put defenses back up. If it goes south just bail and de-aggro. Hope this helps a little.

Edit: This strategy can carry you far into the game hunting badgers, bats, boars, bears, fox, etc. You will need higher unarmed and probably new skills learned along the way for these. However learning combat even on a basic level can help you a lot in the future. There are probably guides you'd have to look around for that explain the combat system a little better than I did.
