A solo player should consider a village.

It's cheaper to cover your base with Village Claim instead of personal claim at some point. And the most important thing is that it blocks other villages from taking over your base.

Not a possibility anymore. If your claim is older than the village claim it can't be declaimed by the village. Personal Claims also take priority over Village claims.

The biggest benefit is that you can use resources to expand your claim size instead of learning points. It's also easier to defend your land because, as mentioned, if someone builds a claim in your village then you can just revoke their privilege.

Village chat.

Why is this? I'm a relatively new solo player.

Is that so?

And what if I expand my village claim over someone's claim, not just put a fresh idol next to it?

The personal claim counts as being older than the village claim in that area and the village claim cannot revoke the personal claim. The offensive nature of village claims was removed. Now you need to ram personal claims, murder the owner and steal the claim, or wait for it to go inactive to break it.

Villages are much cheaper than Pclaims are. 30k of LP into a Pclaim is maybe half the size a village covers, and then you can expand the village further.

In legacy this didn't matter much because everyone wanted massive bloated LP banks for when they died. But since that mechanic is thankfully gone, the cheap LP/tile aspect of villages is ultra useful.
