Question about the starting area

Postby alcfdantas » Wed Sep 30, 2015 5:10 pm

After you move your "soul" out of the pond, you get some sort of direction: go left, be a woman; go right, be a man. After that, there's this wizard-like NPC, a fire, some kind of structure with a tree and a big slab with some runes.

The game, then, gives you no more direction on what you should/could do. Is that how it's supposed to work? I know I should talk to the wizard dude, get a name and then click the fire to get to the real world. I just wanna know if there's any kinda of problem on my side and the game is supposed to give you more directions after you turn into a human being.

Right click the wizard to talk to him, give yourself a name, then right click the fire to enter the gameworld. Beyond that the game gives essentially zero instructions.

What part are you stuck at?

Guys, I'm not stuck or complaining. I do know the game, I've been here since 2010, haha.

I just wanted to make sure everything was right on my end, since it's some kind of new version and I would like to experience the whole thing. Based on your feedback, I guess everything is working like it's intended. Thank you for the replies. ;)

They just changed the starting room around so you have more options to play around before you jump out and can be accosted by anyone. You don't actually make a character until you spawn in the world, though, so if you play around a few hours and the server crashes, you're screwed.

I don't remember much of the start area, but does this mean you can in theory develop your character a decent ways before even spawning into the world? I don't mean days of development, just say a sprucecap and some curios.

Your inventory is emptied upon entry into the harsh world.

there are no forageables there, so you can't make a sprucecap. there is also no stone so you'll run dry of things to do pretty quickly. but you can get basic discoveries like branches, soil, clay and some berries. you can indefinitely make q5 cone cows should you want to. :P one even stays in your study going into the real world, but you have to get lucky to get experience points from digging or so otherwise you can't put them on.

this. It makes it easier to get started with a few basic skills when you do spawn as you may not have certain things nearby to discover that were in the starting room.
