Do beehive contents add up? Or do I have to clean it out?

So if I have 0.50 l of honey after the beehive updates itself, and then plant .50l of honey worth of plants around the hive, will I have 1l or does it not stack?
And with wax, is it based of how much honey there is, or how many plants there are?

It does accumulate however I'm not sure the cap. Wax and honey are 2 independent resources neither effect each other.

It looks like it may still be like the old system and it is based on the number of times a beehive is processed over a period of time with certain thresholds for producing honey and wax. Testing needs to be done, though, to determine actual mechanics.
